RUSSIAN LANGUAGE TRAINING. INDIVIDUAL STUDIES.

For overseas full-course applicants a good command of Russian is essential. Those who study Russian abroad do not always meet the entrance requirements. Therefore we prefer to admit foreign students as beginning freshmen after their successful completion of a Preparatory course (PC) at our University, or at any other Russian higher studies technical institution.
The PC graduates will have been taught to communicate in Russian and to have an appropriate fluency in written and oral practice to understand and follow lectures. They will have also been trained to read textbooks on engineering and to be familiar with technical vocabulary.
Along with the language course, the PC program includes studies in other subjects required for admission to a chosen program; these subjects are delivered with regard of applicants’ initial preparation in a national secondary school.

If you wish to enter the MTU directly after completion of a secondary school you will have to pass tests in the Russian language and in mathematics, regardless of the chosen program. This option is offered to applicants having Russian as their native language.

In case of transferring from other colleges and universities applicants should have adequate training in subjects basic to the level at which transfer is planned. In consultation with a faculty adviser, appropriate placement in a course will be determined by a student’s previous scholarship record certifying one’s progress toward a degree/ Diploma. If necessary, preliminary preparation can be offered to cover the deficits of the former studies.

You can also apply for a short - term individual program in a specified field within the subject area of available courses. This training may be a part of your current course project or graduation work at any other university. In such a case the contents of the training and the duration of studies should be agreed in advance.

We offer a wide spectrum of professional training addressed to Diploma and degree holders who wish to enhance their competences in the University profile subject area. The contents and the length of training are agreed on application. If your command of Russian is not sufficient, introductory or parallel language studies will be arranged with further placement at appropriate Departments. Technical Russian can be also chosen as a main subject of preparation.
The costs of all non-standard programs are determined on an individual basis.
